How It Works โ€” TimeJudge

Operation

How It Works

TimeJudge is designed to be so intuitive that these instructions are almost unnecessary. But here they are anyway โ€” just in case.

Getting Started

1
๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

Power up the Screens first

Each Screen unit displays its assigned channel number on startup. If all screens show the same channel, you're ready to proceed.

2
๐ŸŽฎ

Power on the Controller

The on/off switch is on the lower side of the unit. The Controller boots through channel info, a wait message, and lands on the HOME screen โ€” indicated by the TIME_TAP now prompt.

TimeTAP Cards

Unique to TimeJudge: the ultra-simple way to enter competition parameters. Swipe the relevant TimeTAP card over the RFID zone on the front of the Controller to instantly load a new round format โ€” from Qualifiers to Finals, WA to IFAA, standard to Flint โ€” with nothing more than a wrist flick. Special round formats including Flint and IFAA are available to purchase from tjudge.com.

3
๐Ÿƒ

Set your parameters

Swipe a TimeTAP card to load your desired competition parameters instantly, or use the Yellow button to enter Menu Mode and adjust settings manually.

4
๐ŸŸข

Press Green and go

From the HOME screen, press Green <BTN 1> to start. In normal operation, that one Green button is the only one you'll need for the entire competition.

One button. Every end. Every round. Green <BTN 1> starts play, proceeds to the next detail, continues after arrow collection, and advances to the next end. If everything is running normally, it's the only button in play.

The Four Buttons

BTN 3

Yellow โ–ผ

BTN 4

Red

Emergency Stop ยท Exit Menu ยท Cancel Timer

โš  Emergency Stop

Red <BTN 4> during an end halts play immediately with a 5-whistle signal and a red visual No-Go on all screens. Recovery options are clearly displayed:

  • Green BTN 1 โ€” Resume from elapsed time minus 10 seconds
  • Yellow BTN 2 โ€” Restart from the beginning of the current end
  • Yellow BTN 3 โ€” Reset to the beginning of the competition
  • Red BTN 4 โ€” Oops โ€” cancel the stop and continue

Head to Head & Finals

๐Ÿ†

Individual Finals

Load the Finals TimeTAP card to switch into head-to-head mode. The system alternates the countdown between Archer A and Archer B, each shooting their end in turn. Screen layout adjusts automatically to show the active archer.

๐Ÿค

Team Finals

The Team Finals TimeTAP card activates alternating screen mode โ€” dedicated to team rounds where two teams shoot alternately. Each screen clearly identifies the shooting team and manages the countdown independently for each detail.

Finals modes are only available with the appropriate TimeTAP card. Individual Finals, Team Finals, and other specialist round formats are available to purchase at tjudge.com.

Countdown Timer

โฑ๏ธ

Start a countdown

From the HOME screen, Yellow <BTN 3> enters the countdown menu. Set duration (3 min to 4 hours) and press Green to begin. A timer appears on all screens clearly showing the time until start.

๐Ÿ”„

Mid-session breaks

Use the countdown timer for interval breaks. After the break, the competition automatically resumes exactly where it left off โ€” mid-competition parameter changes via TimeTAP are possible during the break.

Channel Management

๐Ÿ“ก

Local channel change

Changes the Controller channel only. Immediately after powering up, Yellow <BTN 3> enters the Local Channel menu. Select and confirm with Green. Useful where multiple timing systems are operating in proximity.

๐ŸŒ

Global channel change

Changes all paired Screen units to match the Controller channel. Requires the Supervisor TimeTAP card โ€” preventing accidental channel reassignment on the range. Up to 20 channels available.
